A position in Florence for a two-year post-doctoral research grant in theoretical physics, funded by INFN - Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare, is open, starting not later than the fall 2022.

The researcher is expected to work on the numerical modeling of astrophysical sources of gravitational waves, namely compact objects like neutron stars and black holes, using GRMHD codes like ECHO or others. This project will be carried in close collaboration with Luca Del Zanna (UniFi and INFN) and Niccolò Bucciantini (INAF and INFN) at Arcetri in Florence, a beautiful hill where Galileo spent his last years, home of the local observatory, a section of the Department of Physics and Astrophysics, and the INFN Galileo Galilei Institute. The researcher will also be part and collaborate with the local UniFi Arcetri Space & Astrophysical Plasmas and INAF High Energy Astrophysics groups, and the various groups composing the TEONGRAV - Theory of Gravitational Wave Sources INFN national initiative.
