Before being declared spaceworthy, the LISA Pathfinder optical bench underwent a series of rigorous tests at varoius institutes and industrial partners. Here it is being prepared for tests in a vacuum environment by Dr. Gerhard Heinzel at the Albert Einstein Institute Hannover in Germany.
