Postdoc Positions at GSSI

The Gran Sasso Science Institute is offering postdoctoral positions in astroparticle physics.

The deadline for applications is March 2, 2018. The appointment is for two years. It includes generous support for travel, and the yearly salary amounts to €36,000.00 gross.

The Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) is an international PhD school and a center for research and higher education in the areas of Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and Social Sciences. The Virgo group at GSSI is formed around the faculty members Prof Eugenio Coccia, Dr Marica Branchesi, and Dr Jan Harms.

Members of the group are also affiliated with the National Labs of Gran Sasso operated by INFN (National Institute of Nuclear Physics). In addition, strong ties exist with INAF (National Institute of Astrophysics).

The main research topics of the Virgo group include multi-messenger astronomy, electromagnetic follow-up of gravitational-wave candidates, searches for compact binary and burst signals, and science of gravitational-wave detectors. Experimental work can be carried out at the Virgo site as part of the detector commissioning.
